‘Yahko’ translates to ‘I sympathize with you’ in Bambara, a Saharan dialect largely spoken in Mali and other West African nations. This dress is inspired by The Blue Men of the Sahara, a multi-ethnic, nomadic group that inhabits the region. The fabric is dyed in traditional indigo, with hand-painted patterns.
In line with my philosophy on sustainable fashion, this dress is adjustable and accommodates sizes 0-4, as indicated on the size chart in my MFA thesis.
